ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS

All Wild Dog products are handmade with care, using high quality materials and hardware. Our products have been tried and tested with dog walkers, dog trainers, agility dogs, obedience dogs and of course pet dogs too! With a little bit of care (see our care instructions here) Wild Dog products should last you for years and years! Here’s a bit of info about the materials and hardware we use:

BIOTHANE
BioThane is durable and strong yet lightweight. It’s also waterproof, stinkproof and super easy to clean! Perfect for beach days or muddy adventures and everything in between!

It’s far easier to maintain than leather, doesn’t get heavy when wet like rope, and way stronger than fabric or nylon. BioThane is available in an ever growing palette of colours from rainbow brights to earthy neutrals.

PARACORD
Paracord (also known as parachute cord) was originally what skydivers trusted to suspend their equipment (and life) with. Paracord is strong yet lightweight and has a proven track record dating back to WW2.

Each 4mm strand of Paracord (we use 4 strands for our braided gear) contains 7-9 core strands and has a 249kg (550lb) strength rating. Available in an impressive range of colours, there will be one to suit everyone.

HARDWARE
We offer three rustproof solid brass hardware options; classic brass, silver and black.

Brass: Solid brass is favoured for its strength, quality, and classic appearance. Brass is an alloy made from copper and zinc. There is also a clear coat added to reduce the rate of oxidisation.

Silver: Solid brass base with nickel plating. Nickel plating provides a unique combination of corrosion and wear resistance as well as that shiny silver finish.

Black: Solid brass base with a PVD plating. PVD is a highly accurate plating process carried out in high vacuum environments at temperatures between 150 and 500 *C. It produces an extremely durable finish to prevent scratching. Typically, black hardware that is found in the marketplace is not PVD, and is generally just a black spray paint which can chip and scratch off within days. PVD plating is the process used to plate high end watch hardware, golf clubs, etc., and the only successful way to make a black that will not easily wear off.
